디지털 세상에 태어나 살아가는 어린이들을 기르는 부모들의 고민과 질문에 학문적인 근거와 워킹맘으로서의 제 육아 경험을 바탕으로 말걸기를 시도한 <시작하겠습니다, 디지털 육아>(우리학교, 2017)라는 책을 낸 지 3년이 되었습니다.
그간 이 책을 매개로 한 언론의 인터뷰와 대중강연을 통해 책의 내용을 알릴 기회는 여러 번 있었지만, 미디어 리터러시 전문가인 박유신 선생님의 최근 리뷰는 저에게도 다시 공부가 되는 글입니다. 코로나 19로 인해 많은 아이들이 가정에서 시간을 보내며 스마트폰을 비롯한 디지털 기기와 인터넷 이용 시간이 늘어난 지금 시점에서, 여전히 유용한 논의는 무엇일지, 새롭게 고민해 봐야 할 지점은 무엇일지, 박유신 선생님의 글을 읽으며 다시 생각해 보게 됩니다.
‘꿈꿔본다, 어린이’라는 기획으로 한국일보에 4주마다 연재되고 있는 시리즈 중 다섯번째 ‘디지털 리터러시 교육’을 주제로 한 글입니다.
경인교육대학교 국어교육과 교수 및 미디어리터러시연구소 소장. 미디어 교육 분야로 영국 University of London Institute of Education(현 UCL Institute of Education)에서 박사학위를 받았다. 어린이와 청소년의 미디어/디지털 리터러시, 학교 안팎의 미디어/디지털 리터러시 학습과 실천을 위한 교육, 교수학습, 교재 및 정책 개발, 교사 교육과 디지털 페어런팅 등에 관심을 갖고 연구와 교육을 하고 있다. Professor of Media literacy at Department of Korean Language Education and the Director of the Center for Media Literacy Research, Gyeongin National University of Education, South Korea. I received my Ph.D. in media education at the University of London Institute of Education(currently, UCL Institute of Education). My main research interests include children and young people's media and digital literacy practices in and out-of-school settings; teacher education and classroom practices for literacy and media literacy education; digital technology, media resources and textbooks for literacy and media literacy education, curriculum and policies for media and digital literacy; and digital parenting. I am the founder of the Center for Media Literacy Research at the Gyeongin National University of Education, working together with colleagues with multidisciplinary backgrounds for new approaches to media literacy in the age of digital transformation.
